Time For My Two Cents...

Gay marriage. It's a hot topic here in Indiana right now - the ban on gay marriage was ruled as unconstitutional by the supreme court. I've shared pictures supporting gay marriage and I will continue to do so. I have a cousin who is gay and I believe she has the right to be married to her partner the same as I do.

Today, I sat in church and listened to the head pastor talk about this issue and how this church is opposed to it. I've ignored the few references I've heard at church about it - I disagreed with them but I thought I could live with the comments. The pastor went on to say that this church is anti-gay marriage and that anyone who believes differently is not really welcome (at least that's how it came across). Basically, he said he was in charge so that's the way it was going to be and that any members who decided they did not believe that gay marriage is wrong needs to talk to him about it. I don't need him to tell me what to believe. I believe in God, but I do not blindly believe what someone tells me to believe.

The sad part is I liked this church. I've been attending for about two years and had seriously considered becoming a member earlier this year but something held me back. Now, I realize the comments against gay marriage bothered me more than I wanted to admit.

There are quite a few people that I will miss seeing on a weekly basis but I cannot ignore what is in my heart. Now, the search is on for a new church to attend...

A Special Wish!

It's hard to believe that 30 years ago during my senior year of high school that a special girl came into my life. One of my best friends (we were the 3 musketeers) had a baby. All the notes passed back and forth with "Think Pink!" written at the top had obviously worked. This post is for you "B"!

Now, less than a week from now that little girl who is now a grown up mother of her own children is getting married. That little girl who changed all our lives is embarking on the next phase of her life and I couldn't be happier! I wanted to take this time to wish her the best!

"B", the bumpy road you have traveled brought you to this point in your life. I am so proud of how you are raising your kids and continuing to pursue your degree. I know it's hard and money is tight but you will get there and things will get better. Keep up the good work!

Love you "B"!

Father's Day - A Look Back

Sorry this post is late - instead of writing this post on Sunday I was celebrating my grandmother's 90th birthday! I am so thankful to have such a great lady in my life.

On to the post about Father's Day...

Father's Day, a day devoted to Dad. I always have mixed feelings about this day. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Dad but we never really connected. I still struggle with this - who doesn't want the approval of their father?

Maybe it was the crazy schedule he worked while I was growing up - he worked swing shift for as long as I can remember. If he was home he was sleeping.

He wasn't demonstrative. I don't remember him kissing me, except on the day I got married and I don't remember hearing him say I love you.

He never seemed to be interested in my life. One word answers made it hard to continue a conversation. You can only bang your head against a wall for so long.

I wonder what he would think about my writing career (as uneventful as it has been so far...)?

I love you, Dad.

This & That & Everything Else

By the title of this post you can probably guess that there will be no great message this week.

If you haven't heard I changed my mind about improving Saving Cassie. On one hand it was my first foray into the realm of writing and self publishing but it wasn't the best it could be. After much deliberation I decided to bite the bullet and pay to have it professionally edited and that led to the decision that it would need a new cover so that the books in this series could have "similar" covers. I love the story and I hope it will turn out to be the book I dreamed it would be. Saving Cassie will be re-released in October in conjunction with the release of Ragan's Song - Fairfield Corners Book 2. A dual cover reveal will be coming in August with a big party to celebrate. Stay tuned for more information.

On a more personal level... You may have noticed I occasionally post about my daily walks. After my best friend had a significant health scare I vowed we would both get healthier (even if it killed me). I am happy to report that I am down to one caffeinated tea and one soda a day. To be honest, reducing my soda and caffeine intake was harder for me than quitting smoking. A daily walk for at least 30 minutes is my other resolution for getting healthier and I have been able to stick to it, only missing a couple of days due to inclement weather.

So, in a way, Saving Cassie and I are both going to be better than ever and I will look awesome in my dress for the Indie Unmasked Ball in November.

Hope to see you all at Indie Unmasked!

Until next time...

Pandora

Action, spy, romance
Introductory price 99 cents (regular price: $2.99)
Blurb
There was a loud bang followed by a rattle of sounds. Horrified, Pandora realised it was gunfire. She wriggled round, looking about her in a panic. The barrage of bullets was coming from outside, splintering wood and punching holes in metal. Something exploded, filling the compartment with smoke.
“Down!”
The policeman’s heavy hand was keeping her flat on the bench but she could see white-shirt sitting opposite them had pulled out a gun. He was firing through the window. The sound was deafening.

Pandora Fitchett’s life has taken a bad turn. Very bad.
Treachery lies behind the closed doors of British government’s most secret services, and when Pandora finds herself an innocent victim of a treason plot, she has nowhere left to turn.
At least that’s what she assumes.
Stalked by a ruthlessly logical cyber terrorist who follows her every intimate move, and who then has her kidnapped, she is thrown into a tornado of action-packed and violent world events.
Pandora’s only chance of safety will depend on a man who has no empathy, no sense of justice or obligation. A man who can destroy lives from his laptop.
Who is “Dragon” and why is he feared by so many?

Happy Summer

Greetings from Remenicky Land (otherwise known as Northeast Indiana).

The weather has finally warmed and the sun is shining - for today anyway. We've been busy here this weekend, the in-laws will be here next weekend from Florida so this weekend was spent cleaning the house. Unfortunately that means not much time for writing but I will try and carve out some quality time this week.

Did you see? Allie Juliette Mousseau's True North Book 2 - Finding Us Jules and Nate hit #1 in Sports Fiction!! Congrats Allie - well deserved!

It has been a big week for Allie, a #1 book and the release of her YA Paranormal series: Dark Secrets

Hunted - Book 1
Pursuit - Book 2
Chase - Book 3

They are $.99 each - a bargain for some great books!

Time to crawl back into the writing cave...

Until next time - Happy Reading!
